So you are looking for a tutorial which explains how to install a WordPress theme? I will help you in this case. Just follow these steps and install any theme you want. If you don’t know how to install WordPress plugins as well then I’ve also written a separate article for that.
Before we move ahead in this tutorial I want to share some links form where you can download free as well premium (paid) themes. Because you are a beginner use free themes but if you want a professional looking blog then I will recommend you to use paid themes. Free themes have very few customization options whereas in paid themes (Premium Themes) you can customize almost everything. One more thing Premium themes come with very good customer support than free themes.
You can download free themes from these resources :
Note – See the demo of every theme so that you can see how it will look on your blog. Also, check theme is mobile optimized or not.
Now you’ve downloaded the desired themes which fulfill your need if you’ve not downloaded any theme then don’t worry you can download free themes from your dashboard. But if you want to use premium themes on your blog then you have to download the theme before installing on your blog.
In this article I will share two methods to install themes in WordPress CMS :
1. Search in dashboard and install
2. Upload and install
Method One: Search And Install
First Login to your WordPress Dashboard then click on Appearance > Themes.
Here you can see already downloaded and activated themes. By default, the WordPress Twenty Seventeen theme will be there.
To install a new theme Just click on Add New like the below screenshot.
Now type theme name in search bar which you want to download, for example, I am searching Twenty Seventeen and getting these results.
Now choose your desired theme and click on Install, after installing it will ask you to Activate or Live preview. You can live preview your blog design before activating.
Method Two: Upload And Install
In this method, you have to download the themes before doing anything.
Like first method Login to your WordPress dashboard.
Click on Appearance > Themes > Add New ( Same as the first Method ).
Now click on Upload Theme,
Browser the theme on your computer and select it.
Then click on install, your theme will be uploaded to your server. A new page will open, here click on Activate.
Your theme is now live, visit your website and see how it looks.
So this is all about installing a WordPress theme on your WordPress blog. I hope you liked it. If you have any question related to this article then feel free to ask me in the comment box. If you are new here then why not Subscribe NextAster ‘s Newsletter.
