How To Check Computer System Information

Although every computer user knows about their computer information if you are a new computer user then this article is very helpful for you.

It is very important to know about your computer that which CPU, RAM, Hard-disk, SSD, and Graphics card your PC or Laptop using.

You need this information to upgrade your computer. 

This method is only for Windows users. So let’s start –

Method – 1 

You can use this method on any Windows operating system like Windows 10,8, and 7 etc.

Click on the start button at the bottom-left. There is a search bar, this is a built-in feature of Windows 10, 7, and 8. In windows 10 you can access Cortana through this.

Now type system information in the search bar. Find System information in search results then click on it.

A new window will open with lots of information about the computer. There are four option that shows information of your computer. You can find these options the top-left corner of your the computer screen. 

  • System Summary
  • Hardware Resources
  • Components
  • Software Environment

System information

1. System Summary

In system summary tab you can see details about the computer, for example, OS and RAM. This is also a default tab of system information. System Summary shows following things –

  • This show information about Operating System like OS version and manufacturer of OS.
  • You can find the manufacturer of your system for example if you have a laptop of DELL then it will show DELL in system manufacturer.
  • The processor of your computer, for example, AMD or Intel processor.
  • RAM and Page file space – It shows How much RAM and Page File space is on your Computer or Laptop?
  • System summary shows many more things and I can cover all things in only one article. The above information is only covers few details.

2. Hardware resources

Hardware resources show the details of all hardware drivers and information about all devices associated with Computer.

3. Components

It shows information about all components (mouse, keyboard etc.) that are connected to your connected.

View all hardware components such as CD-ROM, Display, Modem, Network devices, Printing devices, USB, and Sound devices etc.

4. Software Information

It displays the list of all drivers and shows that they are running correctly or not. You can see here all processes currently running on your computer. Network connection shows the list of all mapped networks. It displays services, loaded modules, and startup program etc.

Method – 2

It also shows the system information same as the above method. Just click on the start button on left-bottom, you can see there is a search bar. Type msinfo32.exe into the search bar then click enter. 

A new window will open showing the system information of your computer. It displays the System Summary, Hardware Resources, Components, and Software Environment. This method displays the same information as the above-given method (Method-1).

Method – 3

Type ‘This PC’ (Windows 10, for Windows 7 type My Computer) on search bar then right click on ‘This PC’ then click on ‘Properties’. A new window will open. It shows the general system information of your computer. Here you can see Operating System information, Processor model, processor type, RAM size, system type and other specifications.

You can also use CPU-Z software to see full information of your computer.
